Saud Qasmi, widely known as Saud, is one of Lollywood’s most prominent film stars. Celebrated for his charm, amiable nature, and striking looks, Saud has delivered some of the most unforgettable hits in Pakistani cinema.
Born on April 9, 1963, in Karachi, Saud comes from a prestigious and respected family. His lineage traces back to the esteemed Siddiqui family of Nanauta in Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the great-great-grandson of Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi, co-founder of the Deobandi Movement. His great-grandfather, Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad, was a distinguished religious scholar who served the Muslim community in the subcontinent. Saud’s father, Zahir Qasmi, was a famous qari and naat khawan, notable for being the first Pakistani male to recite Surah Fateha on Radio Pakistan at the start of its transmission. His uncles, Shakir Qasmi and Waheed Zafar Qasmi, are also renowned naat khawans and qaris. Shakir Qasmi was the first Pakistani to recite at the United Nations and hosted the Quranic recitation program “Iqra” on PTV.

Although Saud’s immediate family mostly settled in America, he frequently traveled between the US and Pakistan for his acting career. Despite his religious upbringing, Saud’s passion for acting was supported by his family, particularly his mother. He was very close to her and spent the last six months of her life with her in the USA before she passed away from cancer.
In 2005, Saud married Javeria Jalil, now known as Javeria Saud, in one of the most celebrated weddings in the showbiz industry, a grand event lasting 21 days. The couple has two children, a daughter Jannat and a son Ibrahim.
Saud began his acting career in 1993 with the film “Gunah.” He went on to star in several notable films, including “Chor Machaye Shor,” “Hawain,” “Insaf Ho to Aisa,” and more. His last film appearance was in “Ishq Positive,” produced by KSL Productions.
Transitioning to television, Saud played the role of Shirazi in his production serial “Yeh Zindagi Hai” and appeared in the hit drama serial “Ishq ki Inteha.” He also portrayed Azra’s husband in “Baby Baji” and currently stars as Azeem in “Mohabbat Satrangi.”
After marriage, Saud and Javeria founded JJS Productions, producing several hit drama serials. “Yeh Zindagi Hai” was one of their most popular serials, running for about six and a half years. Other successful productions include “Khuda Aur Mohabbat,” “Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai,” and “Jeena Seekha Do Hamein.”
Throughout his career, Saud has acted in and produced over 150 dramas and films. Despite his significant contributions, he feels that he and his team have not always received due recognition, particularly for projects like “Khuda Aur Mohabbat” and its iconic OST, penned by Javeria Saud.
Having served the Pakistani showbiz industry for over 25 years, Saud continues to entertain his fans with numerous projects in the pipeline, reflecting his enduring dedication to the industry.
